Dramaturgs’Network celebrates 20 year

It is hard to believe it has been 20 years since Katalin Trencsényi and I decided to join forces and set up the Dramaturgs’ Network. In 2021 we celebrated our anniversary with an inspiring day of dramaturgical discussions, panels and provocations.

As part of the Kenneth Tynan award ceremony Katalin and I reflected on the changing status of the dramaturg in British theatre over the year and the journey of the network.

It was my honour to preside over the Kenneth Tynan Award this year. The most heartening task for the award panel is going through the many nominations coming in from all the corners of the UK celebrating the excellent work of dramaturgs.

This years winner Gail Babb delivered her brilliant dramaturgy paper which you can read on the Dramaturgs’ Networks webpage: What shapes how we shape performance?
