Take Me Somewhere

In 2020 I was awarded funds to develop a new project with director Anna Newell and composer Peter Power. The call was for work that responded to the contemporary moment and context of the pandemic and that attempts to navigate the challenges of creating and presenting impactful work.

Our successful proposal TAKE ME SOMEWHERE was to develop an immersive audio experience for one audience and one performer.

TAKE ME SOMEWHERE is an encounter, an adventure and a quest into what touch means in our lives.  It’s a story, it’s a memory and it’s a sensory journey about how connection and touch shapes us and how we live in the world.  TAKE ME SOMEWHERE combine the intimacy of a performer/audience live connection and the visceral experience of immersive audio and haptic technologies. It gently turns our new reality on its head with a world of sound, story, and the touch of another, and sets us off in new directions.

We completed the DTF FUTURES development phase in December 2021 with the help of performer/dancer Jess Rowell and audio technician and artist Barry Cullen with 4 development days at the Mermaid Theatre in Bray. We invited 4 guests to experience the work and act as creative consultants.

“feeling like this was an out of body experience. Like I was floating through the stimulus of sound and touch”
